Domaine Allimant-Laugner Crémant d'Alsace Rosé, NV, Alsace, France
The Provence Rosé of sparkling. Delicate, darling and downright delicious.
Like finding Keira Knightley in your washing machine on a cold spin cycle, this is clean, elegant, chilled, youthful and unexpected with a pale complexion, and it is bound to make your head spin before you run to share it with your friends. Made in the same way as Champagne from 100% Pinot Noir, this is so delicate in colour it is almost white, we think of it as the Provence Rosé of sparkling.
Nicolas Laugner's winery is a real family winery. Grandma Allimant married Grandpa Laugner giving the winery its name, but in fact the family has 12 generations of winemakers. They farm 12 hectares in Orschwiller, Northern Alsace, from which they make an incredible 15 different wines, so this is super boutique stuff. They only employ two part time employees, Nicolas, his Mum, Dad and dog (a little white fluffy ball called Falka). Their wines are all vegan, fermented in stainless steel using only natural yeast and cultivated in a sustainable manner.
BY HUMBLE GRAPE
At Humble Grape, we believe wine is for sharing & that each wine-drinker should be allowed to build their own version of their world wine. We seek out hand-crafted wines made by people with love, & import them directly. Small, family-run producers get the representation they deserve, & customers only pay for the wine they’re drinking, with no agents, importers or distributors. And as they’re made with loving care, all these wines are biodynamic, organic or come from sustainable vineyards. As many of the wines we list are small-batch, our wine list of approx 400 wines is living & updated frequently.
What we bring to the wine drinker is a selection of wines that represent stepping out of the supermarkets, & in return they get to know our “Hero Producers”. Hero producers are winemakers that we import directly & exclusively to the UK. They personally work closely with our staff to keep them train about what is happening in the vineyard & in the winery, & how we can best uphold their ethos. They are all small production, family-run, as well as run biodynamic, organic and/or sustainable farms. They visit us quite often, collaborating in winemaker dinners & guest meet & greets.
